Special Needs Tutors
Lauren Rivera
Currently I am attending the University of Hawaii and pursuing my undergraduate degree in Special Education and would like to continue my education to obtain my post graduate degree in Administration.
Prior to the University of Hawaii, I taught children to swim and my specialty was teaching children with special needs. I've also watched over elementary school children and tutored them with their school work. During high school, as part a Regional Occupational Program I was allowed to go into elementary classrooms and work alongside teachers. While in the ROP I wrote lesson plans and applied them in class. I also assisted the children in reading, math, writing and study skills.

Aloha, my name is Cherub Silverstein. I am from the Big Island and have lived on Oahu for eight years now. My educational background includes a non-traditional path: first and fourth grade were spent at Malamalama Waldorf School, the grades in between (2nd, 3rd, 5th) and up until sixth grade I was home-schooled by my mother, and in sixth grade I entered public school and stayed until graduation in 2000. I earned my B.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from UH Manoa in 2004, and am currently pursuing an M.A. in Educational Foundations from UH Manoa. I worked as a Speech Therapist for one year before becoming a Skills Trainer. I have been working as a Skills Trainer with special needs children for two years. Work as a Skills Trainer has provided me with hands on experience and continual training in the field of special needs. I have experience and training in the following: DTT (discrete trial training), ABA (applied behavioral analysis), Theory of Mind, and other hands-on strategies for working with children with special needs.
